I’m busy getting ready to entertain my family for Thanksgiving. The décor was easy — I love decorating with gourds, leaves, berries and candles! And the food? My family loves the all favorites.
But I was struggling with a favor idea that was fun and easy. One that I could maybe even make with my granddaughters. Then I came across this adorable turkey cookie idea.
• Maple leaf-shaped sandwich cookies
• Milk chocolate stars
• Candy corn
• Cake frosting
Tip - Apply frosting with a knife or use a tube of cake decorating frosting for easier control.
• Use the frosting to attach the long side of one caramel on the top of the chocolate star to create the body and feet of the gobbler.
• Attach the caramel and chocolate star to the lower half of the maple cookie by frosting the short side of the caramel. This forms the turkey’s tail.
• Frost one side of a piece of candy corn and set it lengthwise on the top of the caramel with the white pointed end out to form head and the beak.
Set a turkey cookie at each place setting for a fun finishing touch, or line the cookies up on a tray lined with paper leaves for a great display.
Everyone will enjoy gobbling them up!

When a special girl is turning 15, there’s only one thing she wants: to feel like a princess at her Quinceañera celebration! Her dress, her tiara, her flowers, her church ceremony, her dance — all take lots of planning and special preparation.
But you also need to spend time choosing the perfect Quinceañera invitation to let guests know about your event and to get them excited about celebrating with you. And birthday girls, you’re in luck! Jean M makes it easy to find that perfect Quinceañera invitation!
Look at this pretty purple color scheme, featuring our Delicate Damask Photo Quinceanera Invitation! You can print three photos of yourself on the Quince Años invitation for a great personal touch. Use three current photos or add in one or two of you as a little girl for a sentimental look. Take a look at our other Quinceañera invitation designs too.
Then add coordinating Quinceañera accessories to your celebration to carry your pretty look through the entire day. Our napkins are available in so many beautiful colors and can be printed with designs that match your invitation and the theme of your party. Also choose personalized favor boxes in colors and styles to create special treats for your guests.
Enjoy your Quinceañera celebration!
On Island Time
Grab your girl and take off for paradise. Depending on the time of year, you can get great off-season package deals on island vacations or cruises. Check with a travel agent about availability, special group rates and a trip that doesn’t require much travel time. If you can’t get away, throw a tropical-themed bachelorette party with fruity drinks, tropical décor, and lots of fun.
Hunters and Gatherers
You’re an adult, but that doesn’t mean you have to act like one! A scavenger hunt will bring out the children in all of you, but be sure the prizes are for grown-ups, like bottles of champagne or gift certificates for a massage. Set the tone with clues and a treasure map, then be as creative as you dare.
Camp It Up
Does the bride love the great outdoors? Consider a back-to-nature bachelorette party. Call the state board of tourism to ask about campsites and find out what activities are offered in the areas you are interested in, like hiking, canoeing, swimming, fishing or horseback riding. Make sure all the girls know what clothes, food, and accessories to pack.
To a Tea
Your friend is the pillar of lady-like behavior, so she may appreciate a Victorian-style tea party. You can easily host it yourself, or splurge and go to a fancy hotel tearoom. Complete the experience with finger sandwiches, petit fours, and scones.
Don’t miss yesterday’s bachelorette party ideas — and enjoy all the inspiration!
Take a gamble on this once-in-a-lifetime party with a bachelorette bash at a casino. Indulge in a fancy dinner, spectacular show or even stay at a posh hotel. Casino night is a best bet, since you could walk away with enough money to pay for the bridesmaid dresses, a wedding present or another girls’ night out!
Rock the night away with your best gal pal! Put on some glittery makeup and make your way to the hottest nightclub. If she’s a little bit country, grab your cowboy hat (you know you have one!) and head out to a good old-fashioned country western bar. Think you can sing better than anyone? Well, sing your heart out at a karaoke bar.
So Spa, So Good
Pamper the bride-to-be with a day or weekend spa event. Choose a full-service spa that offers everything from massages and mud wraps to makeovers and manicures. The bride will love the stress-buster and you’ll look relaxed and rejuvenated for the wedding day.
You can predict that the starry-eyed bride-to-be (who knows her Sun and Moon signs, plus her fiancé’s rising sign) will love a new age style party. Hire a tarot card reader and an astrologer to do everyone’s chart. This idea can brighten everyone’s crystal ball – after all, who doesn’t want to know what the future holds?
Tune in tomorrow for more fun bachelorette party ideas!

If your favorite time of year is October and you and your groom love the idea of costumes, pumpkins, and all things autumn — then a Halloween wedding is definitely for you! But your Halloween wedding doesn’t have to be ALL dark and over-the-top spooky. Here are my ideas for a fun Halloween wedding that brings in the best of the season and your love of the holiday.
When you’re looking for a wedding location, think cozy, charming and vintage — a historic mansion is the perfect venue! Bring in decorations like long streamers in Halloween colors, sparkling cobwebs in corners and lots and lots of candlelight.
Halloween colors for a wedding invitation! Yes, when it’s a beautiful copper shimmer, like our Copper Shimmer Invitation Card. Add a deep brown or black ribbon for autumn and Halloween style.
Be bold and invite guests to your Halloween wedding with our Black Layered Invitation backed in copper shimmer paper. You’ll definitely set a Halloween theme!
Get creative with a variety of pumpkins, gourds and other autumn bounty by displaying them at the entrance to your ceremony and reception site. Create a unique sign welcoming guests and place it amid the pumpkins.
Adorn toasting flutes with a spider web design in white paint and pass them around for guests to toast your Halloween wedding in style!
Enjoy the fun and pretty Halloween wedding inspiration!
You’ll be getting gifts of all kinds: engagement, shower and wedding. Each gift demands a thank you card and etiquette dictates that you send that card ASAP. As time goes on and your list of thank you cards lengthens, don’t even think about falling back on that old “you’ve got a year after the wedding” excuse. Be considerate of the gift giver and send one right away!
Guests may decide to send their wedding gifts to you well in advance of the wedding. You’ve got two options when this happens. First, you can open the gift as soon as you get it and send a thank you right away. Second, you may choose to keep the gift unopened until after the wedding, when you have a chance to open all your gifts at once. If you decide on the latter, let those people who sent you a gift in advance know that you received it and that you won’t be opening it until later. Then, once you’ve opened it, send all the thank you cards at the same time.
Save the dates are such a hot trend that most brides are sending them out now just because they are fun to create. They’re certainly a very good idea if you’re expecting a lot of guests coming from out of town or if you’re planning a destination wedding. In both cases, guests appreciate the notice about the date and location of the big day so they can take vacation days and make travel plans accordingly.
Tune in tomorrow for even more tips on when to send those important wedding items!
