It’s Jean M’s 10th birthday!
To celebrate our birthday, we’re sharing our best ideas for helping a special friend celebrate HER birthday. Show your friend how much you care with one of these simple suggestions. She’ll never forget her day!
Send her flowers.
Romantic sentiments are not the only reason to send a bright array of buds! Many women appreciate flowers simply for the beauty they bring, especially in a serious office setting.
Create a hobby pack.
For a friend who likes to knit, fill an adorable bag with several skeins of yarn and a book of patterns. Purchase a mini-album and some unique brads or stickers for your scrapbooking friend. Or, choose a favorite novel to share with your book club pal, and tuck a personalized bookmark inside its cover. Be creative. You know your friend best. Think about what she would use and enjoy.
Don’t underestimate the power of a gift card.
A creatively displayed gift card is thoughtful for a friend who has a tendency to spend money on others (kids, husband, etc.). With that gift card, you’ve essentially tricked your friend into buying something nice for herself (at a women’s clothing store, book store, coffee shop or craft store) instead of opting to purchase diapers, clothes for the kids or household necessities with birthday cash she might receive.
Send a personalized photo card.
Use your scrapbooking skills to design a cute card around a favorite photo of the two of you, or use an online greeting card program to create a one-of-a-kind card. Your friend is sure to cherish the thought!
Surprise her without the surprise party.
Pick up your friend at a pre-arranged time, but don’t tell her what’s to come. Surprise her with dessert and coffee, a manicure and pedicure appointment, movie or concert tickets, a home-cooked dinner and drinks or anything else you know she’d enjoy.
Create a scrapbook of your friendship.
Use photos of you and your mutual friends, trips you’ve taken and fun nights together. Even if you have few photos, feel free to use other items in your book (movie stubs, plane tickets, fabric swatches or even clippings from magazines or newspapers) that are meaningful to the two of you.
No matter how you decide to acknowledge your friend’s birthday, do so in a way that shows how much you truly appreciate her friendship. A gift or a gesture from the heart is worth twice as much.

Create an Anniversary to Remember
Whether you’re celebrating 15, 25 or 50 years together, we’ve got some great ideas for pulling together a wonderful party to celebrate that milestone!
Invitations
Personalized photo anniversary invitations are a great way to send the message of your upcoming party. We have several to choose from, in an array of colors and styles.
For those who wish for a more formal, traditional look we have beautiful damask and embossed invitations that will give that more elegant look you’re wanting.
When you’re sending out the invitations, you may want to tuck in a note requesting a fond memory of the couple. Ask that the recipient reply back prior to the party so you can create a memory book to have at the party. It will be a great way to spark conversations amongst your guests.
Also, consider gathering photos from your many years together and set them out around the room for additional centerpieces and decorations. It’s a great way to document your history and you can use photos that include the many friends and relatives who will be at your celebration.
Guest books
Speaking of guests, you’ll want to be sure and have a guest book at the entrance for commemorating everyone’s presence at the event. It will also serve as a helpful follow-up when writing thank you notes.

Go Out or Stay In: Bachelorette Parties!
Often times girlfriends of the soon-to-be bride will host a get-together to say goodbye to singlehood and to welcome married life. The style of the party will likely center around what the bride and her girlfriends love to do most. If they ask you for ideas about how you’d like to spend your last outing with them as a single gal, let the planners know your preferences for activities ahead of time so you’re not surprised and uncomfortable the evening of the party. Here are some options you can give them:
Going out
• Spend the afternoon getting makeovers, pedicures and manicures, then hit your favorite clubs afterward.
• Go to a show, comedy act or concert.
• If you can’t manage a weekend in Las Vegas, meet the girls at a nearby casino and try your luck.
• Attend a wine-tasting event.
• Arrange the bachelor and bachelorette parties on the same night and meet up with the men later.
• Really “go out!” Outdoors, that is. Spend a day with your friends engaged in your favorite outdoor activity — camping, hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, boating, etc.
Staying in
If you’d rather not go out on the town, there’s no reason you can’t stay in and celebrate with your friends! Here are some great ideas for low-key, relaxing celebrations:
• Have a grown-up sleepover at a local B&B. 
• Arrange for an in-home spa or make-up consultant to come to someone’s house and pamper yourselves with facials, massages, manicures and pedicures.
• Head to a friend’s house and watch all your favorite tear‑jerker romance movies.
• Get dressed up and have a cocktail party at home.

Celebrate summer picnics in style with a Jean M!
The days are getting longer, school is almost out and summer holidays are coming up. That means it’s time to start planning those summer parties and picnics with your family and friends.
I love the idea of a red, white and blue for a summer party, whether it’s July 4th or not. The colors are fresh and bright, and it’s so easy to find coordinating items. Here’s a collage of images from a party I recently threw to give you some inspiration for throwing, decorating and celebrating a great summer event.
• Red and blue napkins printed with a fun design are practical and stylish.
• Print seals or labels with a fun message and add them to your favors, water bottles and other items for a personal touch.
• Don’t forget the ribbon for adding a special detail here and there!
• Display your utensils and favors creatively in buckets, wooden trays, galvanized pails and even painted flower pots.
• Get creative with your favors. Who wouldn’t love a s’mores “kit” of chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers, or some firecrackers and sparklers packaged with personalized favor matches?
• Find red, white and blue candies and serve them in a variety of vases for guests to help themselves.
• Get out all the lawn games and encourage children to participate in games of flag football and tag.
• Then fill your plate, sit back and revel in summer and togetherness!

Summer doesn’t start until June, but Memorial Day is considered the “unofficial” start of the season. And you know what that means: it’s time for fun summer parties! So dust off the grill, get the lawn games out of storage and invite family and friends over to celebrate.
A Memorial Day party is the perfect time to roll out those time-tested favorite summer menus (burgers, potato salad and lemonade) and also to add a few new twists (like make-your-own pizzas, grilled shrimp kebobs or other recipes you’ve gathered over the cold winter months).
