Fall centerpiece ideas from Jean M

Can you believe it’s already August? But instead of being sad at the fading summer, I’ve been spending some time getting inspired for fall!

I love fall weddings. The cool, crisp air…the return to rich colors…the way nature decorates itself with bounty. All this makes it easy to create a beautiful and unique look for your wedding centerpieces.

Take a look at these ideas I found!

Fall CenterpiecesDon’t you love the combination of candles and natural elements like nuts, berries and fruits and vegetables? The mix of romance and rustic will set such a warm tone for your event. Add seasonal fruits like apples and grapes to your floral centerpieces, too, for texture and style.

Those colors! I’ll never get tired of the rusty oranges accented with all shades of green, from artichoke to lime shades.

Take advantage of late-season flowers like lilies, hydrangeas and mums to fill out your centerpieces. The depth of color of fall flowers will add drama.

Now – get inspired to create your own fall wedding centerpieces! And don’t forget to share your ideas and creations with us.

Because we anticipated the trend so well that we already have lots of wedding invitations, favors, accessories and embellishments in orange to add a vivid touch to your wedding!

We put together an orange inspiration collage to give you a peek at what we have to offer you in the shade. Then start shopping our entire offering in orange to put your wedding on the spectrum!

Create a “spooktacular” Halloween party!

Getting ready to celebrate Halloween with an outdoor bash? Here are some of my tips for making it fun and memorable!

Not only will an outdoor party help you lighten your preparation and clean-up time, it will allow you to invite more people. And there are so many easy and inexpensive ways to carry out your theme and reduce the fuss. For instance, use hay bales as backdrops and food-service stations. A simple sheet of plywood or a couple of boards on top provide the stable and flat surface you need. Bales are also great for seating. Transform a hay bale, chair or rough board with colorful fabric swatches in Halloween or harvest colors. It’s a simple way to add drama and give your Halloween crafts and creations a stage to perform on.

Keep the party lively by creating several different food and beverage stations around your yard. This will encourage guests to mingle and move around your party. Have one station with beverages both chilled and hot like cider, one with appetizers, one for sandwiches or your main course, one for salads and sides, and one with desserts and Halloween candy.

Go tubular. Go angular. Break the mold when displaying your food and treats. Use cylinders to hold colorful candies, salty treats, fruits and dips. Dip the rims of flared votive holders in water, then decorative sugar, and fill them with gummy worms or a peanut and candy corn mix. Then add a fun touch with skeleton tongs and vibrant plastic scoops that let party-goers serve themselves – if they dare!

Dress up your snacks and beverages with napkins that match the party, like black, orange and white ones printed with Halloween designs and fun sayings.

Get whimsical and fun with your centerpieces and appeal to kid in everyone! Drill small holes into pumpkins, add grommets to the holes and insert the sucker sticks into the holes. Mix and match sucker types and flavors to get guests talking and mingling.

Don’t forget the party favors to give guests something to remember the bash. Dress up Halloween-themed toys, candies and little take-always to delight your guests.

Enjoy!

Decorating ideas for your fall wedding or Halloween party

When you’re planning a fall wedding or Halloween party, decorations are going to be at the top of your to-do list. But when you want a more elegant, festive look rather than the usual spooky and creepy décor, how do you achieve it?

Go with traditional pumpkins — but add a twist with our fun pumpkin decorating ideas!

Make it a masquerade!

How to create this look:

• Slice of the bottom of the pumpkin. Clean out seeds and flesh using a spatula.

• Place a costume mask over the pumpkin and mark on the pumpkin where the eyes are.

• Cut eye holes using a pumpkin-carving tool.

• Put the mask back on the pumpkin, lining up the eye holes in the mask and the pumpkin.

• Light it up! Use a battery-operated votive, candle or small holiday lights inside the pumpkin.

Let the light shine through!

How to create this look:

• Slice of the bottom of the pumpkin. Clean out seeds and flesh using a spatula.

• Use a cordless drill and bit to drill one-inch or smaller holes all over the pumpkin, turning off the drill before removing it from the hole.

• Light it up! Use a battery-operated votive, candle or small holiday lights inside the pumpkin.

Here are a couple of tips for modern pumpkin carving:

• Instead of cutting a circle around the pumpkin stem, lifting off the top and then reaching in to clean the pumpkin, slice the bottom of the pumpkin off going straight across. It is easier to clean from the bottom (use a spatula) and gives the candle a flat surface to sit on.

• Depending on the surface, you may want to place the candle on a small trivet or candleholder.

• Use battery-operated votive candles from gift shops or small holiday light strands to illuminate your pumpkin.

Put it all together!

Arrange your creatively decorated pumpkins together with candles, gourds, mums in a variety of colors and other fall-theme items. (And if you can arrange for a little black cat, more power to you!)

Enjoy decorating!

Tips and ideas for your autumn wedding.

AUTUMN is the perfect time of year to create a breathtaking wedding style. With such an abundance of deep colors and rich tones to choose from, your wedding can showcase a combination of magnificent fall hues or just one bold color.

Capture the colors of autumn!

• Gerbera, euphorbia and yellow calla lilies are beautiful fall flower options. Try including foliage in the bouquets and decorative arrangements; it adds fullness to any venue and looks great this time of year.

• Bridal gowns in ivory and subtle golds are popular in fall. Be sure to choose a dress that is fitting for the weather. Fall may be cooler than summer, but late September and early October are often warm.

• As far as decorations, use everything from luxurious silk fabrics to rustic antique centerpieces. Pumpkins, berries and fruits are all seasonal decoration that are easy and relatively inexpensive, so take advantage.
