Update on Bride Search Winner Michele's wedding plans!

We've just heard from Michele, our 2010 Bride Search Winner, and her wedding is coming along beautifully. Here are her latest accomplishments, plans and dreams — I hope they inspire you for YOUR wedding planning!

"The design and quality of our save the dates were phenomenal! I had no intention of sending out save the dates, but I am so glad the team at Jean M convinced me to. We received countless compliments on them. The red envelope we mailed them in was a classy finishing touch. Now I'm so excited to have our wedding invitations in our hands! We are almost done finalizing the wording for the different parts of the invitation.

MicheleSTD

"I'm also excited about the peacock feather design Jean M designed for us. It will be on everything from our invitations to our unity candle to our cocktail napkins. It was really important for me to have peacock feathers incorporated into our wedding. On the day Carl proposed to me, I was walking along a trail in a beautiful sculpture park, looking for Carl. Beautiful peacocks roamed freely along the trail and I will never forget their vibrant colored feathers...it was truly magical.

"With only three months to go before our big day, Carl and I are working on the church ceremony and will be meeting with our singer and organist to pick out music. We are also deciding which friends and family members will be reading for us during the ceremony.

"We've also just met with our florist, and that meeting painted a beautiful picture in my mind of what my wedding day will look like! The flower shop is owned by Carl's cousin Joe. I am giving Carl all the credit for picking out the flowers — he used to work at the flower shop in high school and college. He chose Black Magic roses for the boutonniere and bridesmaid bouquets because they're the flowers he always sends me on Valentine's Day. My bouquet will be made of vanilla roses, vanilla peonies and vanilla hydrangeas. The centerpieces will have tall, antique silver candelabra adorned with vanilla flowers with a few Black Magic roses. The candles will be lit and strands of crystals will be draped from the flowers. That sounds like true "Old Hollywood Glamour" if you ask me!

"We do have one money-saving tip for other brides: We're eliminating the champagne filled glasses at each place setting for the toast. We decided to let our guests use their drinks of choice from the cocktail hour for the toasting. We saved $300 by doing this — and every penny counts!"

Thanks for the update, Michele! We'll be sharing more details from her wedding as her big day gets closer.

Planning a destination wedding — or just dreaming of a tropical-theme event? We have the perfect colors to get you inspired and dreaming of your island I-Dos!

Here, we’ve put together a Tropical Color Story in Aqua and Margarita to give you ideas for creating a wedding look that’s beachy, breezy and beautiful. Just look at all the options you have for mixing, matching and coordinating!

margarita and aqua tropical destination wedding invitations and accessories

1. Want to add a touch of color, personality and style to your wedding gown and your ’maids’ dresses? Add a ribbon sash in your wedding colors and be unique! Photo by Got The Shot Photography: www.gottheshot.com

2. Add color and style to your reception with turquoise napkins and lime green napkins in shades that mimic the sea and sky.

3. Choose aqua paper and margarita ribbon for your wedding programs  — and add a cute design like our beach chair design (JM8010) that matches the location and theme of your destination wedding.

4. Once you’ve set the date and your destination, send great save the date cards to everyone on your guest list. This great hibiscus design is on a magnet so guests can display your date in full view! Save the date cards are especially important for destination weddings, as guests will need time to make travel plans and arrangements.

5. Add tropical flowers and swags of coordinating fabric to your ceremony and reception chairs to add to the lush and festive atmosphere of your destination.

6. Bring the beach right to your tables with fun, shell place card holders. They double as favors for guests, too!

7. Help guests keep cool at your ceremony with custom program fans.  Choose a beautiful, aqua paper and matching ribbon to match the color scheme of your destination celebration.

8. Coordinate your wedding colors right down to your wedding favors! Jean M makes it easy with beautiful aqua favor boxes and margarita favor boxes — add a personalized seal for a fun finishing touch!

9. Make memories at your destination wedding and then keep photos of them in our fun, aqua photo album. The album also makes a great gift for attendants!

10. Your cake will be the centerpiece of your entire reception when it’s frosted in the color of the waves and decorated with the gems of the sea!

11. Decorating for beach-side and tropical-theme weddings couldn’t be easier! Just add sand, shells and candles to beautiful vases. The vases prevent the flames from blowing out in the ocean breeze, giving you romantic décor all night long.

12. Favors become even more fun when you fill favor boxes with treats specific to your destination or candies in colors that coordinate with your color scheme. Add a ribbon and a tiny shell to each to make them beach-worthy!

13. Lush, tropical blooms in tall, clear vases will make your celebration look like it’s taking place in the Garden of Eden.

14. Hibiscus-print wedding invitation cards will tell guests that your wedding will be in the tropics — and that it will be beautiful!

15. Top your cake with a little bit of the tropics! Our clear, custom acrylic cake top is engraved with an elegant palm tree design. The cake top looks like heavy crystal, but is lightweight and packable to take along to your wedding destination.

16. Aiming for a whimsical reception? Go artsy and fanciful with your wedding cake! Different swirls, waves and bubble patterns in the frosting make this topsy-turvy model look like its riding the waves.

17. Arrange fun and colorful favor candies in individual glass votive holders for a unique presentation. Add a ribbon and printed shell-shaped favor tag for a beachy touch.

18. Choose a design that coordinates with your destination for printing on your favor boxes, napkins, programs, menu cards and more. Check out all our great designs here.

Save the Dates: First things first — once you've set your wedding date, ask guests to save it by sending a fun and eye-catching save the date! Choose a design that matches your wedding style, or go fun and fanciful with save the date magnets or clever designs sure to get guests to mark their calendars right away. Choose a style that is a good representation of the event to come. Also, any of our invitations may be printed with save-the-date wording.

Wedding Invitations:  They’re what introduce your wedding style to your guests, and they’re the first communication guests will receive about your wedding. So make sure your invitations capture your wedding style and hint at the formality of the event. The wording you choose for your invitationscustom wedding invitations informs guests of the date, time and location of the ceremony, and most importantly reflects who you are as a couple.

Invitation Envelopes: Envelopes are more than just a way to mail your invitations— they can be customized to become part of the style of your ensemble. Colorful inner and outer envelopes that match your invitation paper are included with most invitations.

Printed Envelopes: Introduce your wedding colors in a unique and fun way by selecting "ooh la color" outer envelopes with colorful linings that peek from the edge. The envelopes are printed with your return address and a design or monogram on the outer envelope flaps.

PLUS - save the hassle and have us address your envelopes with our Customized Envelope Addressing Service!  It will look great, and save you the hand cramps.

Reception Cards: You’ve worked so hard to create a reception look that will reflect your personalities and will make guests feel welcome. Respond Cards: These practical little cards become fun when you start receiving them in the mail from guests, tallying their responses and reading their little notes about how much they’re looking forward to celebrating with you. You may also include menu choices on the respond card to provide accurate information to your caterer. Jean M offers you the unique option of ordering colorful envelopes for your respond cards. Direction and Accommodation Cards:

You’d hate to have chosen the perfect ceremony and reception sites and have your guests not be able to find them, or not be able to book a hotel room for the weekend of your wedding. So make it easy for out-of-town guests to book hotel rooms and find your ceremony and reception sites by enclosing printed direction cards and accommodation cards with your invitations. Direction cards are printed with the directions you provide. For accommodation cards, include the name, address and telephone number or website of the hotel at which you’ve reserved rooms for guests, and the date by which they need to reserve rooms.

All about monograms — and how to use them to add personal style to your wedding!

Nothing says style, class and elegance like a monogram. They've been used for centuries to mark property, denote status and personalize everything from bed linens to fine stationery.

So follow in this tradition with a beautiful monogram on all your wedding items, from invitations to favors!

The traditional couple's monogram is made up of three initials, set up in this order:

1. bride's first name initial

2. groom's last name initial

3. groom's first name initial

A three-initial monogram for an individual is set up like this (remember this when ordering monogrammed gifts for your bridal party):

1. first name initial

2. last name initial

3. middle name initial

Sometimes the last name initial (#2) is larger than #1 and #3, and sometimes it's the same size, depending on the monogram style and your personal preference.

And, of course, you can always take the more modern approach and go with a single initial that represents your last name, or with a monogram style that incorporates your first names or both first initials.

Jean M offers more than 80 monogram styles to choose from. Some are beautifully traditional, some are whimsically designed, some are theme based (with hearts, holiday and destination motifs) and some are ultra-trendy. You're sure to find the style that suits your wedding perfectly! Check out all our options...
