Wedding “flavor” – Strawberry!

Are you stuck trying to decide on a wedding theme, your wedding colors or your overall wedding style? Here’s a fun way to help you determine what you love and what your wedding could look like: think of your favorite food to indulge in, or your favorite “flavor”!

For example, let’s say you love strawberries. You love the sweetness, the tangy taste, and the adorable shape of the berries. You love strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, strawberry jam, strawberry filling in your cake strawberry sauce on your ice cream. AND you love the color – that bright red burst with a topping of brilliant green.

Now let’s roll all that inspiration and deliciousness into a wedding style! I pulled together some strawberry-infused red and green ideas to get you thinking about how to make strawberry your wedding “flavor”!

Strawberry Wedding Theme

Set a sweet tone for your celebration by sending an invitation in bright and cheerful colors – like our Red Shimmer Invitation Card with a bold, green shimmer pocket. Tie it all up with a Princess Pink Satin Ribbon for a fresh, summery finishing touch. Or switch things around and choose our Margarita Invitation Card with a hot pink shimmer pocket. Either way, you’ll establish your color scheme in a bright way.

Dress your ’maids in strawberry shades of pink, red and green. Add a bright red or green sash to your own wedding dress. Include strawberry blossoms or silk or velvet strawberries in your bouquets and corsages.

Then bring on the strawberry treats! Put a strawberry in every champagne glass for toasting or serve strawberry daiquiris instead of champagne. Instead of punch, serve strawberry lemonade. Go all-out with a dessert bar filled with berry delights like strawberry tarts, shortcakes, pies, strawberries dipped in chocolate or sugar, fruit kabobs topped with strawberries…anything that fulfills your strawberry craving. Add fresh strawberries to your wedding cake (what other decoration do you need?) Send guests home with pint containers of the berries or tiny jars of strawberry jam.

And don’t forget to accent your entire wedding with satin and sheer ribbon in strawberry shades! Merlot ribbon, fuchsia ribbon and grass ribbon will definitely add strawberry “flavor” to your favors, decorations and more!

Enjoy the sweetness!

Tips and ideas for your winter wedding.

WINTER is pristine and elegant — a season to warm by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa and take ski trips on Saturday afternoons. A winter wedding can be simple, but it is also a time of year when extravagance is celebrated.

Cozy up for a winter wedding!

• Roses are a favorite for winter weddings, but feel free to try other flowers like white camellias, orchids or lilies. Elaborate arrangements are welcome along with greenery and ivy.

• The winter wedding dress can be as simple or as glamorous as you want it to be. Don’t feel like you have to wear long sleeves either; luxurious cloaks and wraps are a perfect addition to your ensemble and will keep you warm.

Bold and bright for your winter wedding!

• Winter colors are rich and dramatic. Try covering everything in ice-white and using eye-catching reds and pinks against the white background. Red and green are a great holiday wedding combination while clear blue and silver create a fabulous winter wonderland.

• Set the tone for your winter wedding with a Jean M wedding invitation that captures the spirit of your season and your love!

Tips and ideas for your autumn wedding.

AUTUMN is the perfect time of year to create a breathtaking wedding style. With such an abundance of deep colors and rich tones to choose from, your wedding can showcase a combination of magnificent fall hues or just one bold color.

Capture the colors of autumn!

• Gerbera, euphorbia and yellow calla lilies are beautiful fall flower options. Try including foliage in the bouquets and decorative arrangements; it adds fullness to any venue and looks great this time of year.

• Bridal gowns in ivory and subtle golds are popular in fall. Be sure to choose a dress that is fitting for the weather. Fall may be cooler than summer, but late September and early October are often warm.

• As far as decorations, use everything from luxurious silk fabrics to rustic antique centerpieces. Pumpkins, berries and fruits are all seasonal decoration that are easy and relatively inexpensive, so take advantage.

SUMMER is the time of year for picnics, beaches and barbecues. Nature is showing off her best colors and her best weather. It’s no wonder so many people plan summer weddings!

Head outdoors for your summer wedding

• Bright and beautiful colors are a must at summer weddings, but instead of splashing it everywhere, use small, strong accents of color as centerpieces with white or pale backgrounds. Also try sheer, colored fabrics to add a soft and airy feel to what otherwise might be a hot day.

Green and lush for summer weddings!

• Avoid flowers that wilt in the heat. Some types of lilies, such as the arum, lily, hold up well. Or, you could try a true symbol of summer — the sunflower. Whatever flowers you choose, keep the displays uncomplicated for an effortless look of beauty.

• Keeping cool during your summer wedding will be important, so look for a dress made of light materials such as silk or chiffon. Remember to get a hairstyle that will stand up to the heat, and be sure to include a wrap to match your dress for the cooler evening.

Color Inspiration

Choosing your wedding colors is an important step in setting the style for your celebration. Are you wondering where to start when selecting the colors of your big day? Consider these factors.

Your Season

Some seasons have “built-in” colors, like browns and spice tones in autumn, pastel pink or purple in spring, red for Valentine’s Day, icy blue and silver in winter, and bold floral shades in summer. Take advantage of those seasonal colors at the time of your celebration and build your wedding around them.

Your Location

Wedding in the tropics? Go with exotic colors and bright tones to make a splash. Beach wedding? The colors of the sand, sea and sky are your natural choices. Formal wedding in a traditional church? Choose rich cream, pure white and touches of silver or gold for elegance.

Your Attire

If you’ve fallen in love with the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses, there’s no reason you can’t choose stationery and other elements to coordinate! Even if you’re dressed in formal black and white, remember to choose a color to add a fresh “pop” (like red, green, yellow or blue) and bring style to your event.

Your Heritage

Show your pride in your heritage by choosing wedding colors that symbolize it. Couples of Irish descent could choose shades of green. Certain Asian couples may add in red for good luck.

Your Personality

What’s YOUR favorite color? Choose it for your wedding, no matter what time of year you’re married, no matter what your wedding location. And there’s nothing at all wrong with combining many different shades of the same color (fuchsia, light pink, coral, red, etc.) for a look that’s lush and elegant.

Once you have chosen your wedding colors, bring it into every element of your wedding! Start with invitations that introduce your color scheme and set the tone for your event. Then accent with accessories that will flow your color from the ceremony to the reception, like programs, napkins, place cards, favors and decorations. And don’t forget the finishing touches, like ribbons, rhinestones, pearls and seals.

Take a look at our Color Inspiration collage below to give you ideas for mixing, matching and coordinating colors. Then get creative and start building your colorful wedding!

We love the look of a bright color paired with black. It’s dramatic and modern! Choose Retro Posies Invitation in bubble gum pink, Mod Medallion Invitation in black and fuchsia, Elegant Filigree in black with a fuchsia pocket, Garden Trellis Invitation in fuchsia or Jean M Fuchsia Invitation Card — all will set a pretty in pink tone perfectly. Accent with satin and chiffon ribbon and pink rhinestones for elegance and just a touch of sparkling glamour!
