An “Old Hollywood” theme to inspire you!

We’re still star-struck by the Oscars on Sunday! The lights, the glitz, the glamour — everything got us thinking of a beautiful wedding theme based on Oscar gold and classic details.

Here, we’ve put together an “Old Hollywood” theme in shades of gold, black and cream to get you inspired. Just look at all the options you have for mixing, matching and coordinating!

Old Hollywood Wedding Theme

  1. Lots of candlelight will reflect the sparkle in your eyes and mimic the glow of paparazzi flashbulbs, so use candles liberally throughout your wedding! We added a floating candle to our flared glass bowl and strung it with strands of pearls for a simple but very rich look.
  1. The envelope, please…our “Bridget” custom pocket wedding invitation is worthy of your award-winning wedding look! Choose gold shimmer paper and black ribbon to accent the black and cream pocket. Black envelopes are a dramatic touch.
  1. Make guests feel like winners by giving them gold shimmer favor boxes filled with delicious treats. Tie with “sandcastle” gold silky weave ribbon and add a feather plume for drama.
  1. The best-dressed award will go to…your favors! These cute, black tuxedo favor boxes and cream gown favor boxes are a fun and unique way to present guests with a sweet treat.  And, attach a couple pearl add-ons for an extra luxurious touch.
  1. Coordinating enclosure cards for our “Bridget” invitation will make your stationery ensemble stand out from the crowd.
  1. Pearls, pearl glaze and touches of gold accent this couple cake topper figurine — a beautiful statue of your own to remind you of your wedding for years to come!
  1. Two-piece favor boxes in glistening, gold shimmer are perfect for presenting favor goodies to your supporting cast — your guests!
  1. Help guests find their seats easily with place cards lined up at a table outside the reception entrance. Accent the table with a dramatic floral arrangement in our personalized rectangular vase — don’t be afraid to add in satin roses and feathers!
  1. For toasts worthy of your big event, choose regal glassware, like these modern flutes engraved with your monogram.
  1. Announce your winning dinner menu on stylish, black menu cards printed in gleaming, gold lettering.

11,12. When your napkins match your color scheme, they become important decorating elements. Make them perfect down to the last detail by printing them with a stylish monogram.

13. Give your walk down the red carpet — oops! we mean the aisle! — a designer touch with this ecru pleated chiffon ring pillow.  And make your guest registry elegant with the matching ecru pleated chiffon guest book and pen.

14. Look and feel like Hollywood royalty by wearing a sparkling wedding tiara for the day!

15. Our large, floral-embossed, ecru favor boxes feature a clear window in the lid to let guests see the special treats inside. The boxes are perfect for sending guests home with a special treat at the end of the reception.

Enjoy!

Beyond the guest book — great ideas for well wishers!

One of the wedding trends we’re loving is how brides and grooms are going beyond the traditional guest book. They’re finding unique ways to get guests to participate in creating wedding memories by asking them to write not just their signatures, but words of good wishes they’ll treasure.

Here are some of our ideas for capturing guests’ well wishes creatively.

Wedding Wishes Cards and Book

Ask guests to write their wishes on personalized cards and place them in a vase at your reception. Then arrange the cards in a silver book for safekeeping after the wedding.

Places please! Pamper guests with beautiful place cards.

Place cards are essential to helping guests find their reception seats easily. So be sure to make sure your place cards also help set the tone for a beautiful reception! There are so many ways to personalize place cards — just consider your wedding colors and theme, and add your creativity.

place cards
Place cards are available in every Jean M paper color and can be personalized with your names, wedding date, design choice or monogram. Choose an ink color that coordinates with your wedding look and you have little masterpieces at each place setting! Add ribbons to our ribbon place cards for an extra-beautiful touch. Ribbons are available in 3/8" or 5/8" x 100 yard rolls - then you can use the remaining ribbon for decorating!

Place cards can also accent your favors! Use them to top cellophane bags filled with colorful candies that match your wedding colors, and tie with a pretty ribbon.

 cellophane favor bags

It’s also fun to put together little favor kits, package them in cellophane bags and top with a place card printed with a fun message or a design. Create a kit to warm a winter’s night with a candle and personalized matches

personalized rectangular vase centerpiece

1. Our rectangular vases in two sizes, just waiting for your creative touch!

2. Group small and large vases filled with flowers for lush, beautiful centerpieces. For personalized vases, be sure to position a large leaf behind the engraving so it “pops.”

3. Nautical or beach theme? Engrave with a coordinating design and add a goldfish for a unique, fun centerpiece.

4. For a fresh, summertime look, fill the vases with sliced lemons and add flowers and whole lemons. It will look AND smell wonderful!

5. Fill the vases with ornaments, beads, feathers, crystals or other holiday items to add elegance to your winter wedding tables. Use the ornaments after the wedding to decorate your first Christmas tree together as a married couple!

6. Wrap vases with textured fabrics and add natural elements to evoke your theme, like shells and starfish for your beach wedding.

7. A simple band of grosgrain ribbon that matches your flowers makes a colorful impact.

8. The small vases are perfect for creating low centerpieces that make it easy for guests to converse across the table. Add some bling with a gem initial pick.

9. Use the vases for floating candles — and make sure to add elements that coordinate with your theme to the water, like holiday berries, seashells or colorful beads.

10. The vases are great to use for your candy bar! Fill large and small vases with colorful candies that match your color scheme, and accent them with ribbon tags and colorful ribbon for a coordinating touch.

11. Fill vases with long-stemmed roses for guests to take as a sweet reminder as they leave your wedding. Add a personalized seal and wind matching ribbon around the vase for an eye-catching look.

12. Turn your favors into centerpieces — it’s creative, fun and saves you money! For instance, fill vases with treats and place them on tables for guests to enjoy throughout your reception. We show fortune cookies inside the vase, which we decorated with two ribbon colors and chopsticks for a finishing touch.

13. Tropical weddings are so colorful — so you can add interest to your tables economically by creating centerpieces of greens with just a few bright blossoms tucked in here and there.

14. Want to double the impact of your centerpieces? Place the vases on mirrors! Add even more sparkle to adding colorful gems to the bottom of the vases to secure your floral arrangements. Sprinkle a few gems over the mirrors and on your tables, too!

Endless possibilities — in one color!

Several times a year, the fashion and design industries announce the hottest color trends for the upcoming seasons. What I’m always amazed to see is how many variations of the same color are featured — different intensity, saturation and shading but all in the same color family.

It reinforces what I try to avoid when helping brides decide on their color schemes: the dreaded “matchy-matchy!”

If a bride loves a color for her wedding, I always encourage her to think tone-on-tone within the same color family rather than trying to get everything to match perfectly. Too much of the exact same shade will look blah, while a mixture of, for example, fuchsia, light pink and coral adds depth and richness to the look of your day.

Start out with invitations that announce your color scheme and incorporate multiple shades of that color. Our Jade custom layered wedding invitations are perfect for this — they allow you two paper colors AND a ribbon color!

Jade Custom Layered Wedding Invitations    Jade Custom Layered Wedding Invitations

Carry your tone-on-tone color scheme through to your bridesmaids’ attire. They can all wear the same color dress and carry flowers in a different shade of that color…

…or they can wear dresses in different tones for a unique look.

You can even mix up the flowers in your bouquets! Make your bouquet stand out from your bridemaids’ by carrying the same flowers in a lighter or darker shade than theirs.

Then mix and match tones of the same color for your reception accessories! Go for two shades of the same color for your wedding invitations layers, and coordinate your favor boxes, menu cards, place cards and ribbons to those colors for a beautiful look.

Make your favors stand out by having the same item in two or three different shade.  BellaTINA favor envelopes in two shades…

…or little personalized notepads in two pretty colors will make your favors even more appealing!

Another idea? Go with a colorful favor box or favor bag and add a ribbon and personalized seal or favor tag in a similar tone for impact.
